Sean Slade, producer and engineer

Sean Slade 1993For those of you who enjoy exploring how records are made from the production side, this episode is for you. Sean Slade, one of the founders of the wonderful and legendary Fort Apache Studios in Boston, and producer of such artists as Radiohead, Hole, Warren Zevon, The Go-Go’s, The Dresden Dolls, Dinosaur Jr., Buffalo Tom, Uncle Tupelo (and etc) discusses the always surprising world of the recording studio, and we get to hear what makes Sean tick, what makes him sick, and what makes him slick. At least that’s how I perceive it. The episode is lengthy, but worth a listen in my humble opinion. Give it a spin!

  2. Yes Audrey, I agree!

I can remember Slade talking years ago about how much he enjoyed working with all of you in The 360’s too. Thanks for posting a comment!

  3. I’ve been engineering and mixing for and with Slade for a couple years now, and he’s become a mentor to me, and one of my absolute greatest assets. Not only does he possess an incredible musical sensibility and downright uncanny instincts, he’s also a great story-teller and friend. To that end, he’s enriched my personal life every bit as much as my professional.

    Thanks, Slade!

  4. Slade has got to be one of the smartest guys in the business, and one of the most philosophical. Listening to him talk about music makes me pine for the days when an album was a treasure, an investment, and listening was an intensely private act. I still think “Live Through This” was Slade’s greatest achievement; Radiohead be damned. And the latest 360s cuts are sizzling hot.

  5. Slade roped me in ca. ‘81- ‘82 w/ the Sex Execs and he’s had me hooked ever since. As real as the deal gets.
